Pumpkin Carving Stencils Patterns For Halloween by Leonard Greenhall

We all know about stencils from our school days and briefly described they are usually made of cardboard or plastic or vinyl. Kids have such great fun after creating a pattern on the stencil and then applying it to all sorts of materials and surfaces ranging from t-shirts to scrapbook covers as they do this sort of stuff at school.

Well as Halloween approaches the pumpkin carving stencils patterns are in great demand. The children adore those crazy faces and patterns that come on the halloween pumpkins and as they light the candle inside the pumpkin their designs come to life and you can enjoy the delight you see on the children's faces.

Stencils are trendy inside arts and crafts clubs and are a preferential decorating practice owing to the ability to reproduce fantastic designs. Even professionals like architects, interior designers and ornamental painters prefer stencil art for walls as well as on household furniture and even flooring.

Stencils are also used by tattoo artists and color designers. Common stencil designs are letters, numbers, shapes and symbols. There is really no limit to what you'll be able to generate with stencils and the options are limitless.

However many young children are not able to manage some of the traditional designs and that's where pumpkin carving stencils patterns can give them the pleasure of marking and cutting out the design on the Halloween pumpkin. Of course many of us adults will use the pumpkin stencil as well because we are just plain busy and probably don't feel the need to be creative but will take what's already on the design platter.

The halloween pumpkin Stencil maker is now at this moment in the year very very popular especially at because of Halloween and there are hundreds of different patterns you can choose. With the stencils you can play around together with the children choosing different sizes and shapes for eyes and mouth and nose. The children will chuckle with delight as they choose some more obscure mouth size or eyes for their monster on the pumpkin.

So begin with a fun day out at the nearest pumpkin farm and let the kids imagination run riot as they choose pumpkins which they imagine the face already carved out. Then together with the children go through your selection of stencils and let them choose the design they want. There is such a wonderful variety of unique stencils out there ranging from funny to goofy to crazy and scary. You can even find celebrity faces to choose from although they are a little harder for children to work on.

Well now you should be ready to use that carefully selected pumpkin stencil. So out with some sharp implements with plenty of paper on the floor begin by opening the lid of the pumpkin and the kids can have the task of scooping out all the seeds. Make your choice from all the pumpkin carving stencils patterns you have discovered and simply tape it over the pumpkin.

To do the cut out most people use a sort of poking tool to mark out the stencil outline on the pumpkin and this is one of those tasks that the children could handle. However the cutting out stage will require some hand and finger strength and while the kids will offer to do it you should manage this one for obvious safety reasons. In a short time you can admire the finished work and get one of the children to light the candle to see how it appears. All done and ready for Halloween.

The solution to make your own personalized greeting card this Halloween by Ana Rich

Celebrated each year on the 31st of October, Halloween is a mix of Celtic, Catholic and Roman cultures. Standing at a junction between autumn and winter, Halloween is a time of celebration and superstition. Halloween is often considered to be the day that the dead return to earth. Carved pumpkins were kept on doorsteps or windows to ward off the evil spirits.

With the end of the religious symbolism another new tradition was born. Celtics believed in dressing up in scary attire to ward off evil spirits. Costumes and trick or treating later became a fun event for children and adults alike. Children dress up in scary costumes and go from home to home to ask for treats. The tradition started in the early 1900's when street kids went begging for food items in exchange for songs they sang. Over time it became popular to include everyone who wanted to take part in the revelry of Halloween.

Food is another important tradition of Halloween. Halloween day falls during the apple harvest season which makes Apple an important part of Halloween food. Apple bobbing is a common game for young kids to enjoy.

Exchanging Halloween cards is an important tradition of the festival of Halloween. Kids especially love the variety and novelty of getting and giving Halloween cards.Halloween greeting cards can vary in style and design. Handmade cards are an important practice in schools before Halloween. Everybody loves handmade greeting cards just because of the personal touch, the uniqueness and the work that goes into it. Someone taking time out and making a card just for you rather than gifting a card from a store is always appreciated. But we lack the time and the creativity needed for making such cards.

What we need is some magic which gives your card the much needed personal touch without wasting your time and effort. I recommend online greeting card sites like Greetingbee.com which allows users to log on to the website and create personalized Halloween greetings with uploaded pictures. Halloween photo cards are a more personalized way to greet your near and dear ones on the occasion of Halloween. Users can print the cards that best suit them.

Using online sites, you can make your own Halloween cards. The website has simple card making software where you can either make a card from scratch or choose to edit some of the pre existing Halloween templates that are available. With just a few clicks, your card is ready; fast, easy and inexpensive.

Making your own greeting gives your card a more personal and unique touch as opposed to a store bought card. You loved ones will surely enjoy the effort on your part to make the festival special.

A Halloween Craft Activity to Decorate Your Home by Terri Evans

If you are looking for a Halloween craft activity that will produce an effective Halloween decoration for your home then you have come to the right place. Whatever you have the kids creating for craft, you'll want to make sure that they will be proud when they display it on Halloween.

One very effective Halloween craft is to make luminaries that can line the walkway on Halloween night. These can be made with a simple brown paper lunch bag. Draw a pumpkin face or a bat on front of the bag. Next cut out the shape you have drawn. Spray paint the bag on both sides with black or orange paint.

When the paint is dry, open up the bag and place sand in the bottom. Use a candle to light it up and you have an effective decoration for Halloween. You'll want to use a small candle placed in the center of the bag so a tea candle placed inside a small glass votive is recommended. These luminaries can be placed in a window but obviously not near a curtain or they can be used to line the walkway and greet the trick or treaters.

Of course it isn't Halloween without a few spiders lurking about. One simple Halloween craft activity uses egg cartons to make spiders. The spiders are made from one of the cups placed upside down and painted black. Add googly eyes to your spider body and then create legs by adding black pipe cleaners. Make four holes on each side and push the pipe cleaners through the holes. Knot the end that is pushed through the holes so that they don't slip out and then shape the legs so that your spider will stand. These can be hung around the house or can be stood on shelves or hung from shelves.

The best decorations at Halloween are those that are handmade. The kids will be very proud of what they have done and will learn different skills as they craft their Halloween decorations. A Halloween craft activity doesn't have to be expensive. Often decorations can be made from house hold items.

White plastic shopping bags can be turned into ghosts. Old white sheets can become ghosts too. Egg cartons can become spiders or bats. Cardboard boxes can be shaped into tombstones. Choose each Halloween craft activity carefully and with a little imagination and creativity, your whole house can be decorated with very little expense and you and the kids will be proud of what you have created.

Cake Decorating - More Ways To Create Outstanding Cakes by Tyler Branson

When you want to make a great impression to your guests then you need to make a great cake which you design yourself using some cake decorating techniques that you can find online. You can match your cake decorations with your chosen theme or color. You may also decorate your cake according to your age or to what you usually do. Just like what you see in wedding or Holiday cakes, they are influenced by the usual colors and theme of the occasion.

Some Good Cake Decorations

For adults, one of the most used cake decorating ideas is the use of cupcakes to signify the age of the celebrant. Typically, birthday cakes are just single cakes that are either round or square. Putting numbers in your cupcakes is a good and certainly unique idea. Don't worry too much about the decorations as you can always use the things that are memorable to the guest of honor. Pictures, favorite toys or candy are good cake decorations. This kind of decorations is a lot cheaper and the clean-up will be a lot easier for you later on.

Another good idea is to color your cakes differently to stand out. You can use this during Halloween or in Gothic themes parties. Instead of just using ordinary colored cakes, you can use food color to make a black cake. Bake the cake in a coffin shape or scary bat or anything resembling the creepy world of the dead. An alternative is to use red color instead of black to signify blood. Add some black sprinkles, frosting and you have a cool, Goth cake.

Cake decorating for children's cakes are uniquely challenging. This is due to the fact that children want a lot of things and that includes the design of their cakes. But this should not be a problem because there is one thing that all kids love - cartoons or childrens movies. An easy way to decide on a theme is to know their favorite superhero or cartoon characters. Pictures and figures of these characters are sure hit to them. One good example is the movie "Cars" which a lot of kids love and enjoy. This theme is fun and easy to do because making a car-shape cake base is easy. This is a great choice for boys.

Little girls love fairy tales and princess stories so they will usually like cakes with designs of Snow White or Cinderella while, younger children enjoy Winnie the Pooh and other cartoon characters. So for the next child's cake that you bake, know what cartoon characters they want and you won't have any worries about how to decorate their cake.

For occasions like Valentine's Day, many are using real fresh flowers flowers such as red roses. A heart-shaped cake is also one of the widely used cakes for this occasion. You can also use cupid figurines to decorate it. As for the other decorations, you can use sprinkles, chocolate chips, tiny mallows and flower candies. White chocolate grated on top is a perfect match to your chocolate cake.

With your imagination and the proper techniques, cake decorating is fun and easy as 1,2,3. But, like all skills, you don't acquire them at birth. You have to learn baking and practice some decorating techniques. When you aim to hone your decorating skills, you will be highly rewarded.

Tyler is fond of baking cakes with his family. He encourages the use of cake box to maintain the beautiful form and aroma of the cake. visit his website for more details on the use of

Keeping Your Pet Safe This Halloween by Juli Woods

It's almost Halloween... a traditionally favorite time of the year. Many people love all the excitement, the costumes, the candy, the decorations, and did I mention the candy?

Our animal friends, however, just might find this time of year, this holiday, a bit too scary for them.

1. The days before, and the day of Halloween can be hazardous for your pet - especially dark colored cats. Please follow the advice of the ASPCA and keep your cats and dogs indoors during this time of year. Too many cases of malicious pet torture and injury are reported, don't let your pet become a statistic.

2. Costumes are such fun - all ages enjoy dressing for the season. If you are a pet owner who enjoys dressing your pet in a costume please see that some basic safety measures are followed. Masks should be avoided completely - they can inhibit your animals' sense of sight and smell - both of which are necessary for your pet to know what's happening around them. If your pet becomes confused through sight or smell inhibition they can become stressed - which could lead to irritability, snapping behavior, or fearful, hiding/ running away behavior.
Costumes should be manufactured to be worn similarly to a sweater or jacket. Any trailing aspect of a pet costume - a cape, for instance, needs to attach in such a way as to not put stress on to the neck of your pet. Rubber bands in any part of your pet's costume must be avoided. Because of their elasticity they burrow into the animal's skin, resulting in injury or choking. And, just as in children's costumes, insure your pet's costume is not flammable.
Please leave off any face/body paint or cream. Skin irritation or rash can easily result from any body paint use.

3. Candy - the piece de resistance of Halloween - can be quite toxic for your pet. Chocolate is deadly to both cats and dogs. Ask your children to keep their candy to themselves. This is not a time to encourage sharing! Signs of toxicity are the following: hyperactivity, excessive drooling, vomiting and diarrhea, muscle tremors and/or seizures, and coma. An immediate trip to the Vet ER is called for if your pet exhibits any of those signs. But more than the candy itself, it's the hazards of candy wrappers that's concerning. Tin-foil or cellophane or plastic wrappers, as well as lollypop sticks, can become serious digestive obstructions, when swallowed, necessitating an emergency trip to your veterinarian.

4. Halloween Night - the ghosties and ghouls and fairies come to call. Your pet might not recognize the Trick-or-Treaters as neighborhood kids, or even as human because of the shape, size of their costumes and the masking scent of the fabrics. As a result, your pet might be more aggressive or fearful. To protect your pet keep them on a leash when answering the door, or in another room behind a closed door. This also helps to prevent any escaping through that opened-to-the-ghosties door your pet might do.
Also, when you go out trick-or-treating, leave your pet at home. The sounds, smells and bustle might be too much for your pet, resulting in a run-away or an aggressive incident.

5. Jack-o-lanterns and other candles pose a hazard to our curious pets. Paws and tails can easily be burned. No burning candle should be left unattended for even a second.

6. Pet ID - In case of the accidental escape, insure your pet has a current and accurate ID tag. Microchip them, if possible. The sights and sounds can be quite stressful, resulting in running behavior. ID tags and microchipping are insurance of return.

Halloween is great fun. With proper precautions for your pets, they can also enjoy this holiday.

Juli Woods, when not researching information for her blog, http://paradeofpets.blogspot.com, spends quite a bit of time with her silkey terrier. She also volunteers regularly at various animal support agencies in her area. To keep body and soul together she works within the medical field.

Cowgirl Halloween costumes by Web Resources

Tired of being a dainty princess this Halloween? Be a cowgirl instead, like Jessie from Toy Story.

Cowgirls are fun, free, and wild at heart. They love to explore the Great Outdoors, aren't squeamish about worms, very brave but won't harm a thing. Everything a princess can't and won't do. (That's why princesses miss out on a lot of fun, and why cowgirls take it all for themselves.)

Being a cowgirl isn't as easy as simply donning cowgirl Halloween costumes though. You can wear your cowgirl hat, a red bandanna or kerchief knotted around your neck, checkered long-sleeves, a vest, jeans, a pair of boots, and a coil of rope at your belt, but being a true cowgirl takes balls. Lots of it. Cowgirl Halloween costumes get you in the mood, they give you that necessary cowgirl mindset, but you have to do the rest of the legwork to be one authentic cowgirl.

How exactly do you make the most of Cowgirl Halloween costumes? Read on.

1. As a cowgirl, kick up some dust.
Good if there's dust around, if not, leaves then. Kicking up some dust can also mean just being one spirited, lively cowgirl. Be the leader of the pack. Be the loudest.

2. Say Howdy!
Be a courteous cowgirl and say Howdy when the door opens. Then get your loot bag ready because cowgirls are always rewarded and welcome. Exclaiming Yee-ha! is optional.

3. Chew gum.
Definitely for effect, but getting busy with a piece of gum gives you that spunky, confident cowgirl look.

4. Texan drawl, anyone?
If you can manage the accent, then go with it. If not, you can watch lots of cowgirl (and cowboy) DVDs to get the accent right. Trust me, cowgirl Halloween costumes look more authentic with the accent, and best of all, you're having fun at the same time.

5. Tip your hat.
Whether you got a fat bounty or a lean reward, tip that cowgirl hat of yours. Part of being a courteous cowgirl.

Cowgirl creative Halloween costume are definitely fun to wear. Not everyone can be a cowgirl, remember. It's only once in a year fragile little darlings can dress up as one and be as tough and hardened for the Great Outdoors.

Hints For A Creepy House Halloween Decorating Strategies by Carla Wise

Haunted houses, bats, spirits and goblins everywhere! Halloween is an enjoyable time of year for young children and grown ups alike. Do you want some ideas for decorating your house for all hallows eve? Try these simple and fun and economical Halloween decor ideas.

Entryway: The entryway to your house is the first impression people get of your residence. All too often we forget about how much impact this can have when decorating for the seasons.

Halloween Display. Make the most of it by creating a simple display of Halloween statuary set on a small table covered with a black or orange tablecloth. The 4 to six inch collectible figurines are affordable enough to even use outdoors if you have enough room for a compact table by your door. Indoors, you can go with this same strategy, even adding scary lights and garlands readily available at dollar and discount stores.

Animated Items. Animated Halloween figures can add immediate festivity to a dull entry table. These objects can move, have sound, and some are even motion activated. A smart way to make your entry one to remember! With growing popularity, these items are now showing up in dollar and discount stores.

Living Room/Family Room: To dress up the rooms where your family spends the most time, use most of your Halloween decor ideas in these rooms.

Figurine Display. Use your mantle, a wall shelf, of even your coffee table to show an assortment of inexpensive Halloween figurines. Mantles are normally ignored until Christmas, but fireplaces are a great staging area for many seasonal displays.

Halloween Window Curtain Tie-Backs. To add a creepy hint to your room, add a garland of skeleton heads as tie-backs to your drapes. These garlands are available at most dollar stores and one garland can be cut into two pieces to use on a pair of curtains, you can use another garland across the top for a little added Halloween fun.

Outside: Only the Christmas season surpasses Halloween when it comes to outside decorations. Be the talk of the neighborhood with decorations that outdo the expected jack-o-lanterns.

Gravestones. Transform your yard into a graveyard with tombstones made from low-cost foam board and just a little paint. Thinner than the ones you are able to buy in shops, you could individualize these for your family (rather morbid), your favorite horror film characters, or with amusing inscriptions.

Animated Objects. Add just a little of the surprising with animated Halloween items in close proximity to your entry way. These items can move or talk, but keep in mind that smaller children are frequently scared by these. Since gaining popularity in the past few years, these things are relatively low-cost and readily available on the web and in most stores throughout the Halloween period.

Window Dressings. Turn your windows into Halloween hallmarks with simple black poster board and just a little ingenuity. Cut out designs of bats, ghouls, and other Halloween figures (jack-o-lantern carving kits have outstanding templates) from a full sheet of poster board. Tape the sheet over the inside of your windows, when you turn your lighting on inside, they illuminate the cut out to show your scary works of art to people going by.

These tips will help you get started off on your Halloween decorating, get your creative juices flowing and find out what spooky things you are able to design.

When you are looking at costumes, try to find ones that aren't similar to anything you've worn before. Being the same character twice in a row is a bad idea. It will often lead others to ask you if this is your costume from before, and like the questions you are getting asked, this costume will be tiresome and old. You should aim to be unique and stylish instead of focusing on a costume that worked once in the past.

Another sexy option is the Bunny costume. These can be found in any department store, but remember this isn't the best area to shop. You should find a different place to grab a costume to avoid being just like everyone else.

Everyone knows folks who were born to do this type of thing. They rustle up the most unbelievable costumes without batting an eyelid and for some people this could be a much more difficult prospect. At the end of the day, it all relies on just how professional you want to look. Does your outfit need to have those widgets made out of aluminum like in the film, or could they be something covered in aluminum foil? If you go to extremes with this kind of thinking, you could have a "most amateur" party and see who makes the very best "worst" costume.

It's not hard to understand that what you wear determines what your night will be like. If you wear something sexy, you'll gain a lot of attention and feel adored because all eyes will be on you. Wearing sexy Halloween costumes is even better if you're participating in a costume contest. Most clubs and public Halloween events host costume contests and give away prizes, which is something extra exciting to look forward to.

One final idea for a sexy costume is Mrs. Santa. Remember that sexy costumes are revealing in comparison to traditional ones. Great accessories include pumps and a fancy hairstyle with well applied makeup. This will help to bring your costume to a whole new level.

Halloween in the Lake District by Sally Fielding

Cumbria's most famous witch is probably Mary Baynes, who lived in the 18th century. As an elderly lady, she gained a reputation as a witch when a man who she had cursed was blinded in a farming accident. People could smell brimstone - the devil's perfume - in her cottage; she prevented butter from appearing in the churn; she stopped geese from laying and she finally withered and died at the exact moment that some eggs from a bewitched hen were fried. The reason for the persistence of Mary Baynes' story is her prophesies. She said that one day, 'fiery, horseless carriages' would cross the nearby fell; thirty years after her death, steam trains did just that.

Mary Baynes, like many witches, could turn into a hare. The Eskdale Witch had the same skill, according to a traditional song:

'They tried every trick with gun and snare, but they never caught that wily hare;

'Twas then the men were filled with fear, for they knew witchcraft was lurking near.

Now the wise old sage knew what must be done, with a silver bullet you must load your gun.

Level it when the moon is clear, it's the only way to slay that hare!

Now the gun was primed and levelled that night, and the bullet crashed out in the pale moonlight;

Then the sight they saw filled the men with dread, for where the Hare fell, a Witch lay dead.'

(The Eskdale Hare, Traditional)

Of course, witches had their 'tools of the trade'. Margaret Teasdale, a Cumbrian witch who died in 1777, was found after her death to possess a 'hand of glory' - the preserved hand of a hanged man - and the skeleton of a child.

Many people in the Lakes must have feared witchcraft, as 'witch jars' - stoppered pots filled with a potent witch-repelling mixture of urine, fluff and nails - have been found, usually around doorways. One of these can be seen in Kendal Museum. Keswick Museum has another remarkable artefact, a desiccated cat, which was placed in the roof of Clifton Church in the 13th century to repel evil-doers.

The church records of Lamplugh, near Loweswater, reveal some interesting run-ins with the supernatural in the 17th century. They state that seven people died after they had been bewitched, presumably by the three old women 'drowned upon trial for witchcraft'. It appears that the area was thoroughly beset by the paranormal, as the records also say that four people were 'frighted to death by fairies'!

One of the spookiest parts of the Lake District is the old coffin path in Wasdale. In years gone by, there was no church in Wasdale, so bodies were carried by pony and cart over the mountains to St. Catherine's Church in Eskdale. One day, a young man died, and his body was taken on its final journey. At a particularly remote part of the route, the pony bolted, taking the cart and coffin with it. A search was made, but neither the pony nor body was found. A few months later, the young man's mother died, and she, too, was taken along the coffin path. The pony pulling her coffin bolted too, and the villagers ran after it. They eventually found a pony and coffin, but it wasn't the mother's; it was the son's, lost months before. The son was buried, but the mother's body was never found. It's said that at certain times of year, a ghostly horse can be seen galloping across the moor, pulling its burden behind it.

Muncaster Castle is the place to go if you fancy some serious paranormal investigation. Many ghostly happenings have been reported, from whispering, to children's cries, the smell of burning, rattling door handles, ringing in the ears and sudden headaches. The spooks aren't just confined to the castle, either; the ghost of Mary Bragg, a former castle servant, lingers on the roads nearby. It's said that she was summoned to the bedside of her sick lover, only to find that the invitation was a set-up by a love rival who had arranged for Mary to be strangled. Her body was found in the Esk estuary, and her murder was covered up by nervous officials, which may account for the restlessness of Mary's spirit.

Cumbria lays claim to a couple of the most impressive wizards in England. Michael Scot, who lived in the 13th century, is said to have built a church in a single night; thrown rocks on to Carrock Fell, and turned a coven of witches to stone to create Long Meg stone circle. He could summon demons, and command the sea; he cured the illnesses of the Holy Roman Emperor, and measured the distance to the stars. His writings were still in Wolsty Castle, near the Cumbrian coast, in the 17th century, when a writer called Satchells visited. He wrote that Scot's work, which was full of magical symbols, 'was never yet read through, nor ever will, for no man dare it do... for Mr Michael's name does terrify each one'.

So what was the truth? There's no doubt that Scot was a real man; there are records about him in museums and libraries across Europe, and it's known that he studied the early versions of physics, chemistry and astronomy. The 'magical symbols' used in his writings were probably Arabic and Hebrew letters, which the ordinary Cumbrian of the time wouldn't recognise. His studies suggest that he hadn't ruled out the possibility of what we would call magic, as he thought that certain substances, used in certain ways, when the planets were in certain positions, might produce supernatural effects. Perhaps this was the reason that he was regarded as seriously spooky even in his own lifetime, and he has the dubious honour of being the only named Englishman condemned by Dante to the 'eighth circle of hell' in his 'Inferno'. Scot is supposedly buried at Holme Cultram abbey.

Another wizard story is very old, dating to the Dark Ages. The wizard was known as Lailoken, and he worked for a local chieftain. The chieftain was killed at a savage battle at Arthuret in northern Cumbria in CE573, and Lailoken, driven mad by grief and self-recrimination, fled to the forests, where he lived for the next forty years. Lailoken foresaw his own death by stoning, stabbing and drowning, and sought out St. Kentigern, who absolved him of his sins before he died exactly as he had prophesied. Lailoken's name has been lost to all but experts in the old Celtic records of Cumbria, who believe that his nickname was Myrddin, or, as we now pronounce it, Merlin.

Halloween costume: Novel ideas to bring giggles in party by Robert James

Halloween! The most enjoyable festival of the year is going to come and you have been invited for the party. This is the time when many questions may run in your mind such as:
What are you going to wear?
Will you look unique in the party?
How to make your costume more attractive?
And many more.

Though, you can pay money for an exclusive costume and you do have time to purchase, but what to buy so that you can look most attractive in the party. In fact, dressing up the most likable costume is going to be really fun but when you go to search such outfit, it may be frustrating task. Obviously, there are few common options available related to Halloween costumes that strike in mind every year such as ghost, vampire, or a gypsy's apparel. Even witches and hobos are also common character to come in mind. Every person thinks of initially about all these dresses only as they are common character, or maybe they are only clothes the Halloween stores are prone to stock up. Some people will put their effort to be different and will show up some really shocking collection that have nothing to do with Halloween but their costume will be too touchy or too bold. These dresses usually take so much of daring to buy, and the majority of us would be uncomfortable attempting something like that.

So what to do in order to get an idea for unique Halloween costume. Make an effort for a noticeable costume and which can add a twist in your look. You can do any alteration in your dress to draws people's attention. Hopefully it will bring some giggles and a cool discussion topic for attendees to start chat. Let us see one example here: Suppose you have bought a normal vampire outfit, just wear it up with few ridiculous golfing trousers and golfing shoes. You can relate it to a theme and dictate to everyone by saying that it is your holiday so you have come on vacation and like to play golf.

There are several group costume ideas that are simple and packed out of joy; however you have to put a little thought into it. If there is a friend circle going to attend the party then try to make a theme and wear costume accordingly to demonstrate the same! You can dress up like a gang of pop music, hip-hop dance or a fun loving family and create unique impression in the party.

You can modify a typical, common Halloween costume into a great distinctive character with little bit imagination and very small cost. If you add modest design or a small twist, it can really draw the attention of other people. So have fun and get pleasure from all. Dressing up wit little bit pre-preparation will sure to bring few giggles and great topic for conversion in the party!!

Some Totally Awesome 80's Costume Ideas by Darla

Trends come and go and tend to be repeated. The trends of the '80s are back in full force. Nostalgia for this time period is ever increasing. So this Halloween have some fun with '80s costumes. You can honor your favorite '80s musicians such as A Flock of Seagulls, Michael Jackson, Duran Duran and U2 (some do not remember they were popular even then!) If you like to think of yourself as an original, you can always create your own '80s character.

Maybe you enjoyed The Cure or Robert Smith. Goth may be an option you would want to consider. Break out the white face makeup, heavy eyeliner, and black lipstick as you listen to "Just Like Heaven." Also, one of the most popular costumes that you may like to consider is a Michael Jackson costume. You can create a look from one of your favorite Michael Jackson videos.

If you were a Cyndi Lauper fan, you will have fun recreating her look. Make sure you get a number of necklaces, plenty of bangles and a lot of bright colors. Bring out your inner Cyndi with big hair and two-tone hair color. Add a vintage skirt to a strapless dress for a really authentic look.

Many girls will remember the spandex black miniskirts that were so popular. You can add a lacey satin, white top to recreate the bad girl image that was popular in high school. Also, do not forget the big hair and the banana hairclip along with the neon lipstick and green or blue eye shadow to make the look authentic. For the guys the '80 look is simple. Just make sure you have a bandana tied around your head, black boots and white t-shirt, and work jeans. For an added touch simply tuck a baseball cap in your back jeans pocket.

If you threw out your old '80s attire, no need to worry. You can find great '80s costumes online or in vintage shops. You will be able to find great Uptown Girl costumes in purple or fuchsia. If you like Madonna, you can enhance the look with awesome cross chain sets. The Maddona costume is an essential 80's look. You will even find great wigs, skirts and bustier tops to pull together a Cyndi Lauper look.

There are so many amazing '80s icons to choose from. You can find wild Tina Turner wigs and if you have great legs you can strut like the Diva herself. You and your friends can even recreate an '80s metal band look. You will find plenty of sleeveless shirts, spandex leggings and leather pants. If you are really daring, you can even find many items to recreate a Boy George look. You have so many choices to create a fun ' 80s costume for any costume party and Halloween.

I love costumes and the eighties. 80's costumes are my favorite.

The Night of the Howling Horrors by Betty Locke

Halloween is almost here and once again on the night when the grisly ghouls are abroad, at around twilight, small people will be at our door steps peering at us out of slits in ghastly masks and proffering hopeful begging bags and baskets.

"Trick or Treat!" they shout in menacing tones.

We affect an attitude of abject fear and toss some sickly sweet treats on top of the accumulating nauseating candy piles.

The little goblins and ghosts squeal with laughter at having intimidated us into a donation and having fooled us into not having the least suspicion as to their identity, even if we recognize their voices and they live next door.

Eventually, after repeating the scene over and over they go home with loads and loads of tasty but evil tooth destroying, unhealthful refined sugar.

In many cases much of the booty goes uneaten. Parents have been known to throw some of it out. After all, how much confection can a little stomach take?

Halloween is supposed to be fun and we go along with the charade but what a shame to spoil the annual joyful lark by lacing the merriment with poisons.

Apples and other fruit are good alternatives to candy but not in huge quantities so we can't have everyone tossing in apples. Besides that would tend to make the bags very heavy. Also I am sure some would rot before it could be eaten.

WELL SO WHAT? THEY ARE NOT MY KIDS!

In two or three hours, the yearly circus will be all over for another eleven months.

So why should I care if their health and pretty smiles are compromised? I won't be paying their dental bills!

Is it my fault if they develop diabetes at some future date? Of course not! WHY IN THE WORLD SHOULD I CARE?

So who am I kidding? The undeniable indisputable fact is that I DO care!

So because I have concerns about what goes into the bags of other people's kids I admit that for the last few years I have not pitched in a scrap of candy.

Instead I buy cheap toys such as party favors at the dollar store or wherever I can find them. Actually I keep an eye out and collect them all year. A cheap plastic car or ship or plane will at least provide fun for an hour or so before being discarded and will not damage young bodies or generate hyper activity.

A few crayons or a fancy pencil with a feather on the end might cater to the inner artist residing in every child.

A rubber ball, a whistle, a puzzle or a game will provide amusement without causing cavities.

Dangling Bracelets, necklaces or bejeweled plastic tiaras might stoke the imaginations of potential young performers.

At this point I should make it clear that I am not a hundred percent averse to candy. I have been known to enjoy chocolate occasionally. But l think we do kids no favors by shoveling truckloads of sugar down their throats.

Children come already packaged naturally sweet!

Funny And Creative Holloween Custumes For Couples by Harland Spikes

It has been common for couples to dress up as Dracula and his victim. The concept has become very boring. Halloween is a time for surprises and excitement. There is then a need to explore on more ideas on what to choose for Halloween parties. Without you knowing it, there are many options available. This article contains some suggestions regarding on what to portray during Halloween. Hopefully, you can get some fresh ideas to choose from.

These concepts are very easy to make but will surely gain the attention of your family and friends.

1. Bride and Groom - What makes this costume different is by switching roles. The woman would be the one to dress as the groom by wearing tuxedo or a suit. On the other hand, the man will be the bride. He will wear the gown and the heels. There are shops that would let you rent these costumes or may you purchase them at a very low price. You could also play with the colors. The bride does not have to wear white. He can choose bright colors such as red or blue.

2. A Tramp and A Lady - You could also put a twist here. Let the man dress up as the woman again and vice versa. Reversal of roles is very funny and exciting. Your audience will surely be fascinated. It is suggested that the man would show off a lot of baubles and flaunt his killer heels. For the part of the tramp, trousers of bigger side are the most suitable for the costume. Instead of using a belt for holding, use a string.

3. Deceased Husband and Widowed Wife - This one is much easy to achieve. The man only needs to wear something dark preferably black and put a lot of white face paint for him to appear dead. While the wife, she would just have to wear a mourning dress. Make the color black and let her wear a veil in order to conceal her face. It would be good if she would also bring a tissue and let her look as if she is always crying.

4. The Movie Star and Photographer - This concept would entail lesser effort. You could choose who among you will dress as a star. You can simply do that by wearing something outrageous and glamorous coupled with a pair of shades. Perform as if you are really a movie star and retain your popularity among your peers.

The costume of the photographer would be the cameras. He or she could just wear anything plain and simple. But what makes the costume astonishing is the number of cameras. Let it hang around the neck or make it appear that you hind them in your pockets. The photographer also moves from one corner to another, taking pictures not only of the star but for all the people around the party. You could take stolen shots to surprise them.

What is being provided above are just some of the many ideas that you get online. These concepts would surely be a hit and you will gain all the necessary attention you want.

Cheesy Costumes: And The Trend Goes On by Tuleful Apple Lips

Few weeks ago, I attended my niece's school program. It was their school's 10th Foundation day. The event's theme was sort of a 'wonderland'. The children were all dressed up in their own fascinating, sometimes odd costumes and they look very happy. Looking at them, I cannot keep away from thinking. I remember those times of my childhood where I happen to wear a "red flower" costume, combined with the accessories along side of it I somewhat look ridiculous. I can't remember what exact event that was, but I'm sure that I wore the silly costume.

Today, costumes and dressing up are vital parts of festivities. Wearing of costumes can be track down to ancient Babylon, in the time of pharaohs and Kings. In the 21st century, costumes became popular in holidays, especially during Holloween. Halloween has its roots and origins in Ireland and it is widely considered that it dates back to a Celtic tradition of Samhain Eve when it was believed that the links between the living world and that of the dead were at their strongest. The name Halloween comes from the eve of All Hallows' which was what All Saint's Day was called during medieval times.

Children gear up in their selected costumes for their much awaited trick-or treat, and amazingly sometimes they were accompanied by adults. This merely shows that dressing up is not just for children. It was a fact that in today's market more sales are registered on adult costumes than on the traditional children's sector. Another quick soaring trend today is dressing up your pets. Since pets often become family members it's obvious that pets would do costumes for Halloween as well. It is fun to see that pets dressed up as people pretending to be super heroes or as Dracula.

In the end, it really shows that wearing a costume is part of our existence. Sooner or later you will have to wear one. It doesn't matter how stupid or silly you look what matters is the fun and enjoyment that you feel inside it.

The Magic Of Halloween - Part 1 by CD Mohatta

Halloween or Holloween is a holiday celebrated on the night of October 31 in most countries. Irish immigrants carried versions of the Halloween tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other coutries followed suit in the twentieth century. It is generally thought that the holiday originated from a Irish holiday known as Samhain, which was celebrated in Ireland and Scotland during harvest time for many many years. The time of year when harvesting was completed and animals were brought from summer pastures to shelter for the winter months was known as Samhain. Fruits, vegetables, grain, and animals, were burnt as gifts to the Gods in big bonfires during Samhain. This was done in the hope of a successful new year. The general belief was that on the Samhain night, dead people could appear on earth and the alive people were able to question the dead about the upcoming year. Some of these spirits were thought as evil and hence people started wearing scary costumes with animal heads to frighten the spirits. They protected themselves in this way.

Samhain is also known as Celtic New Year. November 1st is known as All Saints Day or by the other name - All Hallow's Day. Hallow refers to sainted ones. All Saint's Day is there to celebrate the saints and martyrs of Christian faith. This day was celebrated to diminish the importance of the Celtic rituals and the influence of the druids. Hence the day - 31st october - became known as All Hallow's Eve, or Halloween. The carved pumpkin lit by a candle inside, is one of the most prominent symbols in America for Halloween. It is commonly called a jack-o-lantern.

Common Halloween activities include watching horror movies, visiting haunted houses, trick-or-treating, carving pumpkins, wearing costumes, lighting bonfires, costume parties, reading scary stories and similar activities.

Trick Or Treat - Halloween Tradition

Trick or Treat is a Halloween custom. It is the quote said by children who call on houses to solicit gifts at Halloween. In North America, England and Ireland, kids go round to people's houses on Halloween night which falls on october 31st, dressed in some kind of scary costumes, and challenge the inhabitants of the homes with the cry, Trick or Treat? The houseowner then chooses between a trick - where the kids play some prank or practical joke on them - or treat where the houseowner treats the children with sweets or candy or similar halloween treat stuff. The houseowners usually stock up on halloween treats before hand. With increased Tv penetration and exposure, the halloween customs have spread across other parts of Europe and Asia too. In some places, the night associated with trick or treat is also known as beggars night.

The practice of dressing up in costumes and going from one door to other asking for treats on Halloween goes back to many years. Trick-or-treating is similar to the medieval practice of souling, when poor people would go from door to door, receiving food to eat in return for prayers for the dead on All Souls Day. This tradition originated in Ireland and England and the poor people were called soulers.

Making a Halloween music CD can be fun and rewarding by Daryl Plaza

Making a Halloween music CD can be fun and rewarding

It is easy to create your own Halloween music CD! Halloween is a fun and exciting holiday for many individuals. Carving pumpkins, creating an elaborate costume, decorating the home, and getting the candy bowl all ready is just half the fun! Creating spooky sounds on a CD can really enhance the overall mood of the Halloween holiday.

Spooky sounds and music that is considered to be scary can really set the pace when it comes to this night of spooks and haunts! Here, I will share some information with you on how to create your own Halloween music CD.

The first thing that you need to do in order to create the best CD ever for Halloween, is to go online and locate clips and sounds that are offered on numerous websites. There are many stores that specialize in selling these sounds, while other websites offer them for free. In order to brew up a good stew of spooky sounds and music, you will need to dedicate some time to researching the files that you run across.

If you are having a difficult time coming up with some holloween sounds that you like, there are a couple of websites out there that specialize in this type of music. These include “Classic Halloween Sound Effects”, and even “Halloween Culture Classics”.

Now, you will want to create a playlist in Windows Media Player of the sounds and music that you save to your computer. You can name this “Halloween music CD”, this way it can be easily identified once you are ready to burn the CD of Halloween music.

Now, you will want to be sure that you have the hardware on your computer that is necessary to burn the CD. A basic CD burner is about all that is required if you are using Windows Media Player. If you do not have a burner on your system, you can purchase an external CD/DVD burner at any electronics store for anywhere between $50.00 and $200.00 that will do. External units simply connect to your computer through a USB port.

Now, you will want to determine what type of CD that you need to use to burn the Halloween music. Once you make this determination, purchase the blank media CD and put it in the CD burner. Now, as you look on Windows Media Player, you will see a button that says “Burn”, simply hit this and the playlist will automatically copy to the blank media CD. Once this is done, the CD drive door will open and your Halloween music CD will be ready for you!

Interesting Facts about Halloween by Usharani

WHAT IS HALLOWEEN

Halloween, Hallowe'en, or Holloween is a holiday celebrated on the night of October 31. Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, ghost tours, bonfires, costume parties, visiting "haunted houses", and carving jack-o-lanterns. Irish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century.

To me the whole idea of Halloween seems to be very interesting, the idea as such is on of the craziest idea ever imagined. But I consider this autumn night to be one of the enjoyable holidays of the year. The reason why I find this holiday to be the most enjoyable holiday is not because of the candy perhaps it could also be one of the reason, but the main reason which strikes me is that the whole fun to see everyone dressed in weird costumes. We finally get a chance to celebrate the other spookier side of our life. Bats, vampires, and all the traditional elements create a night which has both the mood of fright as well as laughter. The entire atmosphere of that night is an inexpressible event and the way the kids go for trick or treat, collecting their desired sweets and the adults can throw a party any moment. The entire experience of being extremely crazy to the core .What could be better than this.

THE DIFFERENT NAMES
Another fascinating thing about Halloween is the different names with which it is referred to. There is an alternative spelling with which it is referred to Hallowe’en looks different but exciting yet. Another popular way in which it is referred by the saints is Samhain Pronounced as Sow-in.
In some parts of Ireland they call the celebration as Oiche Shamhna and in some other parts it is referred to as Pooky night. This Pooky night, is referred because it is kept after the name of a mischievous spirits called as puca.
An ethnic group of Britain referred as Celts calls the night as Allantide.

HALLOWEEN TRADITIONS ACROSS THE GLOBE
The various traditions which are followed are almost innumerable. However some of the funny traditions I would like to list are:
In Mexico it is not a long established tradition. However the kids have started the tradition of trick or treat and they have parties with exciting themes for the older crowd.

In Australia and New Zealand the festival doesn’t gain much importance because they consider the festival as an foreign culture import. However as the festival in itself is so interesting many people organize trick o treat for the kids and the candy tradition is frowned upon.
In America single women are told that if they sit in a room with lights off and hold a mirror then they would see their would be husbands photo and if they are going to remain single forever then they would visualize the image of a skull.

Tips to Arrange Holloween Party by Mitch Johnson

Looking for some interesting games for your Halloween party? This article is to guide you to meet your need and your guests need for fun. The games given in the following article works well for all ages. You could give them a choice whether they want to play or not.

The "Pumpkin Carving" contest is always very popular. All the children, big and little, in the party are seated around the room on the floor with papers spread out before them. Each child is furnished with a hollowed-out pumpkin and a knife and told to carve a jack-o-lantern. Mothers and fathers help by suggestions. When the lanterns are finished a lighted candle should be placed in each and the lanterns lined up in a row for decision as to which is entitled to the prize. This is decided by popular applause. Each child may take home his or her own jack-o-lantern.

At our last party, in a secluded corner of the room, was suspended a large iron kettle over a make-believe fire. It had created quite a bit of speculation, but as no one went near it, it was supposedly just a part of the decoration. Just about the time all the guests had forgotten about it, a witch rushed into the room. In a covered basket she had a number of ingredients which were needed for charms. She handed the basket to the hostess and retired to her kettle, muttering.

Each guest was then blindfolded and formed a line. The hostess then explained that all the objects which were in the basket must be passed from guest to guest in the line and finally handed to the witch. It was started off with a hot baked potato which passed quickly from hand to hand amidst sudden exclamations of various kinds. A chestnut burr came next followed by a piece of ice, an old glove filled with mush, a large soup bone, a large peeled grape and an oyster.

The blindfolded guests emitted blood-curdling shrieks as the objects touched their hands. At the end of the line the objects were placed in the kettle and stirred vigorously by the witch while the guests, blindfolds removed, looked into the kettle. When all the ingredients were thoroughly stirred the witch took from the kettle the written fortune of each guest. Halloween is the one night of the year when spirits, according to tradition, roam the earth again and mortals may appeal to them for a glimpse into the future.

At the end of the games big doughnuts were passed on a child's broom handle, accompanied by cider or milk. As an extra treat black-face ice cream was served. This is made by pouring thick chocolate sauce over vanilla ice cream. The eyes, nose and mouth on each serving are marked with tiny mint candies.

Although originally Halloween was a Druid and Roman religious ceremony, in American tradition it is a night of merrymaking, fortunetelling and pranks. Such an opportunity for a good time should not be wasted.
